RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – The new site is loverva.com. It operates like groupon and living social, but has distinct differences.

“They’re 50/50, we’re 80/20,” said Jonathan Martin with BARK Marketing.

Which means more money back in the hands of the business which, in turn, shares it with a local nonprofit of their choice. The first deal was $30 for 15 at Sticky Rice.

“It sounded very attractive, a good way to get some publicity, do a good turn in the process,” said Kevin Wilson with Sticky Rice.

Sticky Rice chose to share the profits with Ring Dog Rescue, an organization that saves pit bulls and pit mixes from being euthanized at local shelters.

“We have volunteers that foster for us, keep the dogs in their homes. They are kept in a family environment. We socialize them, we obedience train them and get them ready to members of permanent families,” said Karen Taylor with Ring Dog Rescue.

The organization will receive almost $1,000 from the loverva deal.

“It will go toward spay and neuter for animals coming into the program, it will also help us with vaccinating them, heart worm and flea prevention for the year, basically everything to get them going into their new families,” Taylor added.

Sticky Rice tried living social and ended up selling 1600 vouchers.

“Very exciting to see that kind of interest but also very stressful when you’re thinking, oh my goodness, now I have to redeem 1600 coupons,” said Wilson.

With loverva, the featured business has the ability cap the number of vouchers sold.

“We were dissatisfied to see how much money was leaving our city,” said Martin.

Groupon operates out of Chicago, living social out of D.C, meaning half of all money spent leaves the Richmond area. The point with “loverva” is to facilitate positive change within our community.

“We’re trying to help out our city and we want to see the money stay here and go to good causes,” he said.

It takes some time to get it right. But fun and easy to try. You probably all ready have what you need in your frig right now. There are different recipes. Try them all.

What it is…

Tamagoyaki ??? (literally ‘grilled egg’, also called tamago or dashimaki) is a type of Japanese omelette, which is made by rolling together several layers of cooked egg. These usually are prepared in a rectangular omelette pan called a makiyakinabe.
Tamago is made by combining eggs, rice vinegar, and sometimes sugar or soy sauce. Additionally, sake is used in some recipes.
Tamago is served around the world in the form of nigiri, and also appears in many types of sushi rolls. In Japan, it is served as a breakfast dish. There are several types of tamago.

A simple one…
Tamago Recipe

3 eggs
1 tablespoon mirin
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon light soy sauce

Crack your eggs and lightly mix them. You don’t want to incorporate air into them so the best way is to use chopsticks: stir them gently without whipping, but make sure that the eggs and yolks are completely homogeneous. Add the mirin, sugar and soy and gently mix in.

Use a paper towel to evenly spread a bit of oil in your pan. Heat it on medium low heat, then add the eggs so they cover the bottom of the pan.

Great interview with the soundtrack of the year!!! Cliff Martinez firmly from the read hot chillipeppers wrote a epic score for drive and also contagion. After watching “drive” and then getting the soundtrack is the real way to appreciate it. The first 3 songs are infectious.
