Wingfield is from Mumbai, India and never cooked in an oven until moving to the

do not cook in ovens. So, when Keya moved to Richmond, Va. with her Richmond
native husband, she unexpectedly also fell in love with her oven and started baking
like a fiend. She loved cooking so much, she enrolled in and graduated from the
Pastry Program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College before establishing the
Candy Valley Cake Company. She now sells her creations nationwide.

WHERE: Candy Valley Cake Pops are popping up EVERYWHERE! They have

Apple has sent out invitations to a music-themed event to take place in San Francisco next Wednesday morning.

With customary Cupertinian minimalism, the email message provides no information about what will be announced at the invitation-only event — just the 10:00am starting time and the venue, the Novellus Theater at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, site of similar Apple roll-outs.

The only hint as to what might be announced at the event is the invitation’s image — a C.F. Martin Dreadnought guitar with a sound hole in the shape of the Apple logo.

The Perseid meteor shower tonight, which peaks during the early hours of Friday morning, is widely regarded as perhaps the most consistently spectacular meteor shower of the year.

If you live under very dark skies or can travel beyond the sky glow of urban America, you can expect to see up to 75 meteors an hour, astronomers suggest. If you’re hardy enough to be on a mountaintop, the number could reach 108 meteors an hour.

The best viewing locations will be in the Northern Hemisphere, with Southern Hemisphere sky-watchers limited to perhaps 30 or 40 events an hour at the shower’s peak.

THE GREAT DC EXPANSION

Sticky Rice DC plans to break new ground this fall. What? Yes, you may have heard that Sticky DC has long waits and is really really crowded. Well, we get it and we heard you. We plan to knock a couple holes in the wall into the building next door, which has “fantabulous amazing” benefits for our Sticky patrons. 5. Describe your level of intoxication in a status update

Look, everybody out that saw how drunk you are. Everyone online going to see how drunk you were when you’re tagged the next morning in a sequence of photos illustrating your attempt to chug a mixture of vodka and apple sauce. Nobody needs to be reminded via an intentionally misspelled status update.

6. Email an ex

It’s like texting, except you can fit a hell of a lot more in. While a text message limits you to a simple “want 2 see u” an email can easily turn into a seemingly appropriate compliment that “ur way better at kissing than ur sister.”

7. Forward a funny email

People haven’t done this since 2001, and no matter how much you believe you won’t get kissed for two years if you don’t pass it along, please try and refrain.

I don’t know what sorts of assholes are making all of these YouTube response videos, but I’m assuming most of them must be plastered, so everyone cut it out: nobody cares.

I know it’s hard to find the Kim Kardashian sextape but just pay for it when you’re sober if you’re so desperate, because you’re going to get a bunch of Trojans if you drunkenly download anything p0rn-related. They invented streaming for a reason.

10. Read the news

This isn’t a good time to catch up on the latest on the Obama administration, and you’re going to forget all of it anyway. You may as well just turn on some Dave Chapelle stand-up and enjoy yourself while you’re still conscious.

All That And A Bag Of Rice: The Dakigokochi Virtual Baby Simulator/Announcement

To celebrate the birth of a baby in a way that makes it feel like the kid’s right there in your arms, a rice shop in the southwestern Japanese city of Kita-Kyushu will send out a customized dakigokochi, a roughly baby-shaped bag of high-grade rice to everyone on your birth announcement list. The bag will be printed with the kid’s picture, stats, and a greeting–and it will weigh the same as the kid did at birth.

Depending on the type of rice, dakigokochi run about 3200-4200 yen, plus 640-1000 yen shipping, so $US35-45/each. There are eight bag colors and approximately one million traditional wrapping options [so Japanese], though I didn’t check if there’s a price differential. They only ship within Japan.

For the more traditionally minded, there is the kotobuki dawara, an OG straw bale container of rice which is filled to match the birth weight of the baby. It’s also suggested as a favor for wedding guests and/or the parents of the marrying couple, in which case, you give one each with the birth weights of the bride and groom. It’s meant to symbolize the cycle of life, as the grains of rice are borne of the stalk–and then steamed and eaten? Am I missing a step?
