First Fridays RVA

Every first Friday of the month in Richmond, the artsy blocks on Broad street east of Belvidere and west of 9th downtown host a not-to-be missed Art Walk from 5-9pm. Over 40 galleries, stores, and restaurants along the route open to the public for an evening of scoping everything from the latest Dirty Richmond sketches to tribal art shipped from around the world. Many stops offer complimentary refreshments, and often, the artists themselves are on hand to talk about their work with passers-by.

This Friday, there are also a couple special events going on outside of the normal radius of galleries. Jenn Rockwell is showing her work at Rumors Thrift Boutique (723 W. Broad) at a show entitled Friends in Low Places from 6-8pm. Come check out her fun, awesome portrait work and drool over some of the classy, cheap duds at Rumors too! Ellie Doughty will also be showing her work at Pibby’s Bike and Skate Shop (209 W. Broad) from 6-9pm. Her work is more sketch-inspired and dystopian, but also really great.

Overall, there is too much awesome art to enjoy this Friday to stay in and pout. The free cheese and positive vibes alone will make your night a hit, so come on out!
